more joy

a few more things i thought of that bring me bursts of joy:

watching men's tennis
my daughter falling asleep on my chest
old movies, especially fluff musicals and classic love stories




... and so many reasons to adore kelly clarkson. now here's one more.

i love surfing the channels and coming across an old gem. today, i remembered why and when i fell in love with both lili taylor and river phoenix. in the movie dogfight. if you haven't seen it, netflix it asap. it simmers with awkward, pained love in a restrained and artful way.

so, my daughter is a big fan of day-o, the banana boat song. spent part of today gathering lyrics from all over the internet because i realized that i don't remember the words to most songs. i'm a big fan of that song too. as well as if i only had a brain, such a charming classic:
