falling in love, again

calvin and i are celebrating our anniversary today. 8 years since our first date. and yes, there is all sorts of mushy falling in love with each other, over and over again. but the real new budding love is with my new daughter.

she'll be 3 months old on the 25th and she's amazing & surprising us - more and more - every day. she holds up her neck extremely well and stares at everything. very curious. she's also starting to smirk, sneer, grin and pretty much smile.

i know, it's no big deal and not very interesting if it's not your kid. but this is the lil' bundle of joy that we've been talking about having for over 6 years. the lil' peanut who we'd feed every 3 hours for the first 2 months of her life! ... and, at the time, you never think of the next developmental stage. you just pray for more winks and ZZZs. so when she actually starts to EVOLVE. right in front of your eyes. um. well, it's a trip. a fantastic trip.

the best part is of course that she's been sleeping through the night for a few weeks now. if i believed in jinxes, i wouldn't even say that out loud! but i don't. the other night, she slept for 11 hours. i thought she might be experiencing a serious medical problem, but no. appears we have a good sleeper on our hands and we are so happy about it. of course, that could change any minute ...

she is cooing more and more and is starting to recognize us - her daddy and papa.

i can't wait until my parental leave starts again this friday!

also this week - our first meeting with our birthmom since the hospital! so looking forward to seeing her again!
